It is a well known fact that it is the most effective way and it gives the best results at a short period of time. Sociological researches confirm this statement too. So, it is very important to give the students a variety of the examples of a thesis statement, so that they can analyze them. By studying strong and weak thesis statement samples the student understands the difference between them and learns how to do this work right and in a shortest period of time.

Below there is a number of examples of weak and strong thesis statements, so that the students can feel the difference between them.

  1. Thesis statements that explain an essay. For example, we have a question: “Why are physical exercises so important?” and need to write a thesis statement. The weak thesis will be: “Physical exercises are very important”. It is too broad and do not give us an answer on the question. Now, look at one of the strong examples of a thesis statement: “Physical exercises are very important because they make us healthy, wealthy and wise”.
  2. Convincing thesis statements that give arguments to something. For example, convenience an opponent whether it is necessary to wear a school uniform. Here is a weak thesis: “The students can not be forced to wear a uniform at school”. A strong one is: “The students should wear school uniform because it is a way to a discipline and makes all of them equal (in the social status).
  3. Thesis statements which analyze literary events, facts, sayings, etc. For example: How Karl Marks criticizes the governments of European countries in his work “The Capital”. Too weak thesis statement will be: “Karl Marks criticized the governments of European countries in many ways”. And here is an example of a strong thesis: “Karl Marks criticized the governments of European countries by means of philosophic materialism; he used irony and characterized an external weakness of the society.
